Forehand Videos

Key Points

1. Look how Fed uses his off hand to create spacing making sure the ball is always outside his fully stretch left hand…we like to call this the measuring stick.

2. Check out out how compact Fed Stays keeping the entire stroke on the right side of his body.

3. Look how Fed keeps tremendous spacing from the ball at contact with his dominant arm fully extended at contact.

4. Look how Fed often slides over to the ad court to prepare for balls hit down the middle of the court. This is something most rec players get into big trouble with. They see an easy ball hit right down the middle, they don’t move, and then end up jammed at contact.

5. Last but not least watch Federer dance and spilt in between every shot.

Pete’s Key Points

1. Watch Federer’s Famous Head Lock—keeping his head on the contact point well after the ball has left his racket.

2. Look for how long Federer extends his arm forehand after contact before wrapping around his shoulder. This is especially important when you want to flatten the ball out. You can see by Fed’s court position that is on full offensive here.

Inside Out Forehand

Pete’s Key Points

1. Noticed how Federer works his feet in a sideways backpedaling shuffle and makes sure he creates tons of space between him and the ball before bringing energy into the ball.

2. Watch how Federer transfers and explodes his weight and energy from loading on the right leg and bracing his finish and recovery to the left.

3. Pay attention to how many shots don’t land deep in the corner but two to 3 feet behind the service line and continue to move sideways off the court.
