Today we learn the art of the poach. The most dominate player on the court should be the net player on the serving team.
Too often this player ends up standing still like a log and is not a threat to the receiving team. One of the first moves
you want to perfect is the poach move after your partner serves the ball.
In today’s workout we work on this move over and over again so you take the right steps and have the correct timing
Enjoy
Pete
P.S. Today’s Password is in text at the end of the video

No keyword text in here. But I did watch it!

Video is killing me this week lol….the keyword does not show on this video…put when I play it on youtube the video starts right at 24 minutes where I put the annotation!!!! Frustrating anyway great job Mike you get credit.
The keyword was ACE….the workout today is really sweet and I said the KEYWORD
SangeethaKumar says
Didn’t do a good job on this, I’m afraid. 🙁 Going to have to try again tomorrow. LOL
But, the good news is that “Ace” now appears on the video inside a neat little white text box!
PeterFreeman1 says
SangeethaKumar I like your persistence
SangeethaKumar says
Okay. MUCH better this time around! Yay! As you keep telling me Peter, it is all in the feet! LOL
Alright. Off to work now. TTYL!
Oh, BTW…. on full screen mode, the key word doesn’t appear at the end. (?!)

I really like this manner of shadow practice, without a ball and even without a racket to groove the fundamentals of the movement and the balance. Great drill. It looks as if you are starting at a point that would be maybe 2/3 or deeper in the box, a la the Bryans, which gives you the space to step toward the ball and still cut off on an angle.
PeterFreeman1 says
thank Robert I am glad you liked this workout. Yes kind of the Bryan Bros positioning although I play a little closer than them…they are much faster than me…so I would rather play closer and dominate the net and cover angles and worry less about the lob.
And yes it is all about the timing so I do hope this helps
RobertAng1 says
PeterFreeman1 For sure. One of my partners yells at me if I step back. Timing advice helps a lot!
PeterFreeman1 says
RobertAng1 PeterFreeman1 Robert that is funny. What level do you play? And how many workouts have you done so far? Hope you are enjoying them…
RobertAng1 says
PeterFreeman1 RobertAng1 Probably a TPR rating of 4.5 after remodeling my game in all phases, but I feel that is fluid as the pieces continue to come together and consistency improves. And yeah, that is funny. First time it happened, the guys around the court laughed.
I have a fairly thorough stretching and movement routine of my own, so I have done selected parts of the one you demonstrate. It is good stuff.
PeterFreeman1 says
RobertAng1 PeterFreeman1 good stuff!!! Sounds like you are a pretty good player…also if you have some movement or stretching drills you have I would love to see it!!!
